2018 CSA Shares

A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Share is a direct relationship between our farm and you as a customer & community member. CSA members purchase a “share” of the harvest in advance of the growing season. This helps provide the farm with the capital needed early in the year to buy seeds and supplies, and get the growing season underway. In return, members receive a weekly “share” of the farm’s harvest — fresh, in-season, high quality, vegetables grown and harvested right here on our farm.

CSA prices and sizes:
Large CSA Family Share $515 (18-week summer season – late June thru mid-October). The Large Share will comfortably feed 4 people.
Small CSA Share $350 (18-week summer season – late June thru mid-October). The Small share will feed 2 people.

You can purchase a share for yourself, or you can purchase a share to donate to a local family identified through Littleton Elder and Human Services. In 2017 LCF donated 4000 lbs. of produce to local families, Loaves & Fishes and Catholic Charities food pantry in Lowell.

  •  Each shareholder will be treated to a selection of produce as well as a small number of crops (when available) from the pick-your-own section of the farm once per week.
  • The CSA share will be set up “market style” with shareholders filling their own bags or boxes with specified quantities of vegetables.

Work Share – 5 Hours Per Week in the Field in exchange for a Share:
(18-week summer season– late June thru mid-October)
We have a limited number of work shares available. This is a wonderful educational and community driven opportunity to spend time in the field and learning more about our best organic growing practices and techniques. Click the link above to let us know if you are interested in this program (click box on the bottom of the form).

What are your farming practices?
We grow our produce using organic principles (never any chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers), demonstrating our commitment to enhancing soil health, using resources efficiently, creating a safe working environment for ourselves, our farmer and our volunteers, and growing safe healthy food.

What’s in a share?
We plant a diversity of crops in order to provide a wide variety of vegetables and herbs to our CSA members. Shares contain different items each week, depending what’s ready for harvest. To get a sense of the types of vegetables we harvest throughout the season, check out our Harvest Calendar.

What if there’s a crop failure? Do I get my money back?
This is part of the risk of joining a CSA. As a shareholder, you are sharing the risk of the farmer. You are investing in Mother Nature’s cooperation and our community mission of locally farmed produce and educational programs. There are no refunds.

Can I pick up my share early, or change to a different pick-up day?
Sorry, we cannot accommodate requests to change pick-up days, or to pick up shares earlier. We are already keeping track of many important details in order to get your share ready for you, and we want to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

2018 CSA Pick-up Times
Tuesday afternoons, 3:00-6:00 pm or
Friday afternoons, 3:00-6:00 pm

What happens if I miss my pick-up?
If you are not going to be able to make it to pick up your share, it is best to have a friend or relative pick up for you. With all that’s happening on the farm, we are not able to keep track of forgotten shares. Unclaimed shares will be forfeited. If you know you are going to be away and cannot find someone to pick up your share for you, please notify us by email so that the food does not go to waste.

Can I share a share with my friends?
Splitting a share among two households is okay with us, BUT we ask that shareholders take the entire weekly share in one visit to the farm. Please do not come to pick up your share and take a “partial” or “half” share. Keep in mind that our shares are designed for one household, and the contents can’t always be divided equally. If you decide to share a share, we suggest that you either come to pick up your share together, alternate pick-up weeks, or split the share at home.

How do I contact the farm?
The best way to communicate with us is via email. Our email is csa@littletoncommunityfarm.org. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but as we spend most of our time in the field, it might take us a little to respond. Please contact us with any news of the following: changes to your postal or email address, problems with your pick up time, recipes, or comments about your share.

Do I have to volunteer on the farm?
No, there is no volunteer work requirement for CSA members. For those who are interested in spending some time working on the farm, we will organize volunteer work days in order to tackle big projects like weeding. Volunteer opportunities will be announced in the weekly CSA email update.

How do I sign up?
